Expectations of the Parents of the Players of Gerrards Cross & Fulmer Football Club
- Display sportsmanship at all times, promoting fair play and avoiding all forms of gamesmanship.
- Respect and encourage all the children (never be negative).
- Never put pressure on a child, especially in matches.
- No swearing or abusive remarks are to be directed at any player, official or supporter.
- Respect the referee’s decision at all times.
- Applaud the opposition as well as your own team.
- Avoid coaching during the game unless specifically asked to do so by the team manager.
- Stand well back from the touchline when watching matches, respecting the job of the linesman.
- Always discuss any concerns about training or matches with the team manager in private.
- Ensure your child arrives for training and matches on time and appropriately dressed for the weather conditions and always wearing shin-pads, without which they cannot play.
- Ensure your child has water or soft drinks at training and matches.
- If not staying at a training session or match please collect children promptly and let the team manager know who you are taking.
- Support coaches by offering to help i.e setting up, marking pitches, clearing up at the end of training or match. Everyone gives of their time freely.
- Pay your subscription fees on time as the Club needs to know you are committed and has financial commitments to make.
- Know the rules of the game as this will give you a better understanding of the decisions made by the officials.
Please remember that your positive encouragement of your child will contribute to their enjoyment of the game, sense of personal achievement, self-esteem and improvement of their skills and techniques. Your expectations and attitudes have a significant bearing on your child’s attitude towards other players, officials, managers and spectators and we would encourage you to give attention to all the children in the team, not just the most talented.
