Managers Mantra :
January 2008
According to the bucksfootball.com website, we have been moved from the blue group to the green group so we will be playing against some different teams from January.

Coaches Corner :

  • Make sure that you always bring shin guards to training and to the games.

  • Concentrate on doing the simple things like passing, your first touch and more passing!

  • Always support and encourage your players and coaches – try your best to avoid arguing or criticising, your team-mates are all trying to do their best!

  • Listen to what parents and coaches are saying – they’re trying to help

  • Before you play, go through a 5 minute warm up and stretch – you will play better and avoid injuring yourself

  • Play as part of the team

  • Give your opponents the respect that you would also want

  • Respect the referee – his decision is final

  • Enjoy yourself and have fun, and play football whenever you can!

Flackwell Heath Minors vs GXFFC

Paul’s Team
Match 1
Flackwell Heath Minors 1 : 3 GXFFC
Flackwell Heath kicked off and for most of the first 5 minutes pressed forwards, with several good moves producing saves by George. Then GX started to find their passing game, and began to gain ground. Nik sent a high pass forwards to Dan, who passed to Charlie in front of goal. Charlie turned, turned again and shot sweetly into the net. Shortly after Dan sent over a cross which beat everyone, Charlie chased the ball to the corner flag and gained a corner kick off the defender. Charlie’s corner was hard and curving, causing the FH keeper to drop the ball into the net. Another Nik to Dan to Charlie move ended with a shot just over the bar, and Alex had a good dribble and shot. The third goal was spectacular, with Dan trapping a goal kick near the half way line, took one touch and scored with a long hard shot.
The second half started much like the first half with FH pressing forwards. Their persistence eventually paid off as George mishandled a cross into the near post, and the FH forward dribbed the ball away from him and tapped into the empty net. But George wasn’t put off making several good saves in the next few minutes including spreading himself diving to capture the ball at the foward’s feet. GX counter attacked and Dan hit the bar after a move involving him, Nik and Charlie.

Match 2
FlackWell Heath Minors 1 : 3 GXFFC
GX came out strongly for the start of the second game trying to take advantage of the slope with Nik, Alex and Charlie all coming close to scoring with shots either just wide or saved right on the line. Then just before half time Charlie had two corners, the second one driven hard into the box, and the FH goalkeeper dropped the ball into the net.
Dan was eventually persuaded to volunteer for goalkeeping in the second half, and looked a little apprehensive as FH attacked down the slope. A succession of goal mouth scrambles ensued, but each time GX eventually cleared the ball. Having weathered the storm, GX gained a corner. Charlie put in right in front, and Nik’s pressure caused the defender to turn it into the net. Then a great tackle by Alex in centre field, pass to Nik on the right wing, Nik’s cross was inch perfect picking out Charlie who header was unstoppable. FH gained a consolation goal from a long goal kick into the GX half, which was helped on with a powerful shot into the top right corner of the net. Dan made a good save at the near post to keep GX’s advantage intact right to the end.

Jon’s Team

16 Sept 2007
GXFFC vs Risborough Colts & Thame
First matches of the new season. A bright sunny morning, pitch well grassed and quite a covering of morning dew.

Paul’s Team
Match 1
GXFFC 11 : 0 Thame
Charlie 4, Dan 3, Nikhil 1, Alex, Max, Jacob M 3
Two GXFFC referees parents who have not ‘reffed’ before. Down to 6 aside due to injuries. Dan scores for GXFFC early on. Long shot by Nikhil on target but saved, followed by another good shot also saved. Good passing leads to goal by Jacob M, quickly followed by goals by Dan, Charlie and Jacob. 5-0 at half time. An amazing 6 more goals scored in the 2nd half. Charlie worked really hard in attack and brilliant passing all round in the 2nd half.

Match 2
GXFFC 11 : 0 Risborough
GX were soon underway in their second game, with Charlie scoring the first goal soon after the whistle. GX kept the pressure on the Risborough defence throughout, exemplified by Alex forcing a defender to back-track while facing goal and then stretching to nick the ball just wide of the post. Nik scored the second. Risborough found it hard to keep the ball away from their end, Dan picked up a goal kick, and had his shot well saved. From a quick throw in, Charlie picked up Alex, who dragged the ball past the defender and slotted the ball home. Then Charlie miscontrolled a pass from Dan, the goalie cleared it, only to see one of his defenders put it straight back past him. Charlie’s next goal was an individual effort, dribbling the ball in from the right corner flag, his shot across goal going in off the far post. GX then played a series of passes, Alex to Nik to Dan to Charlie whose shot beat the goalie at the near post. Nik had another effort well saved as the first half ended.
The second half saw GX continuing to keep the ball in the opposing half. After two goal kicks that were intercepted and the ensuing shot going just wide, Nik tackled the defender receiving the ball, and shot home. Nik almost had another goal when he picked up a throw from Alex, took a couple of touches, looked up and sent his shot just past the right hand corner of the goal. Dan converted a cross from Charlie on the left touchline for number eight. Then George’s long throw into the box was too high for Max, but Charlie was on hand to force the ball home in the left corner. Alex scored his second and then got his hat trick picking the ball up mid way towards goal, dribbling past two defenders and shooting into the bottom right of the goal.

Jon’s Team
Match 1
GXFFC 7 : 0 Risborough
GX kicked off the first half and soon found their passing game to be effective. A well worked move ended with Anil shooting just wide. A throw in by Risborough on the left was intercepted by GX, quick pass to Anil in the centre who had a clear run towards goal and his shot found the back of the net. Another move down the left soon followed, Anil centred the ball and Faheem’s shot was pushed round the post by the keeper.Faheem was soon on the scoresheet as his long range shot was parried by the goalkeeper, the ball fell to a defender and Faheem, following up, won the ball back and scored. Several more attempts produced good saves by the Risborough keeper as GX pressed for more goals with Anil, Ollie and Robert all having good shots.
For the second half, Anil went into goal and George went into central defence. Almost straight away Ollie saw a good shot hit the post. Then with GX keeping the pressure up, Aneel hit a hard cross from the right, which Ollie just failed to connect with. Faheem tackled a defender on the left, took the ball to the bye line, crossed it right in front of goal and a defender unluckily supplied the touch which took the ball into the net. Next Ollie took a corner from the right, Faheem picked it up on the far side of the box, centred it back to George on the edge of the box and he struck a fine shot into the top left corner of the net. Faheem netted another long range shot for his hatrick, and then set Ollie up for his first goal. GX’s seventh goal came from another well worked move, with Ollie passing forward to George, his shot came back off the keeper and Faheem followed up tucking the ball away.

Match 2
GXFFC 6 : Thame 0
Jacob M, Robert, Ollie 1, Faheem, Anil 2, Aneel 1
Early lead by GXFFC due to goal by Ollie. Good defending by Jacob M, goal shot by Anil good save by Thame goalie, followed up by goal by Anil. Good ball control by Jacob leads to goal. Several attempts at goal saved by Thame goalie. Eventually Anil scores again. Excellent ball control by Faheem followed by shot in to top corner, goal. 5-0 at half time.
